If you know of an atheist or ARE an atheist, you need to know what God's word says about you. It may seem harsh, but the Bible is a sharp two-edged sword and not a play toy.
Did you know that there are three powerful weapons for overcoming despair and darkness? Read Psalms 13 as your devotional today, and you will discover that David grabbed a hold of these three things, and he became an overcomer:
1. He trusted in the Lord's lovingkindness
2. He rejoiced in God's salvation
3. He sang to the Lord because He is generous
So today, what can you do about darkness and despair? Try trusting, rejoicing, and singing to the Lord!
My Prayer for you today:
Wow! I just can't get over the prophetic nature of the Psalms, written thousands of years ago, yet it speaks so powerfully to our generation. Today's prayer, written by King David, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, is a "prophecy" for our time. Listen in to the cries of a man who moved God's heart so long ago, and make his cry your prayer today....
As I wrote my prayer for today from the Psalms, I came upon Psalms 11:3 and couldn't take my eyes off of it! I knew that the Holy Spirit was saying this word to me (and the righteous of this earth) today. You may not live in America, but you are living in a country where the foundations are being destroyed, one by one. Let me leave you with this prayer and thought for your country:
I pray that you are asking Jesus to come quickly. That is my cry, and that was the cry of the early church too!
Maranatha! Come, Lord Jesus and be King of this Earth.
As I was writing a prayer from the Psalms today, I began to think about PRIDE in light of world events. According to God's word, pride (in any form) is detestable to Him. As a matter of fact, God says that HE hates a proud look (Proverbs 6:17) resists the proud (1 Peter 5:5) and considers pride an abomindation (Proverbs 16:5). Wow! God has some pretty strong feelings about pride, doesn't He?
Sadly, today a movement has gained momentum that unashamedly boasts of their PRIDE. Yet, no one says anything to them about the sin of pride because we are so caught up in the sin of homosexuality. Make no mistake, sin, in any form, separates you from the Almighty God and will keep you from eternal life in the world to come. Maybe you don't believe in a world to come or care about anything but this life? That will prove to be a fatal mistake if you continue in that mindset.
Taking pride in sin is a one way ticket to Hell. Am I a bigot for saying this? Well, according to the secular world I am! Yet, I am here to tell you that you can kill the messenger, but you can't kill the message. God's word is living, active, and sharper than any two-edged sword. His word does not change with the times. As a matter of fact, God Himself declared these words, "I the Lord change NOT! (Malachi 3:6)!"
It is with a sad heart that I share with you that today, a "Christian" country threw out the welcome mat and embraced two grave sins into its land:
1. The Sin of Pride
2. The Sin of Homosexuality
As I viewed a map of the world that reflected countries who have embraced these 2 sins wholehearedly, it was like I was seeing a dark cloud envelop the lands of this earth.
"Christians" are even buying in to the lie that this is somehow progressive and ok with the God of heaven. They encourage others to reject God's laws, and almost 2000 years ago the Apostle Paul warned a young pastor about this when he said,
But we know that the Law is good, if one uses it lawfully, realizing the fact that law is not made for a righteous person, but for those who are lawless and rebellious, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers and immoral men and homosexuals and kidnappers and liars and perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound teaching, according to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, with which I have been entrusted (1 Timothy 1:8-11).
The Law of God has never changed. Homoesexuality is still a sin, along with rebelion, profanity, murders, immorality, kidnapping, lying, perjury and even other things!
But, we shouldn't be surprised that the world and so called Christians are shunning God's law in favor of sin because the Bible foretold this would happen.
But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. 2 For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, 4 treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these. 6 For among them are those whoenter into households and captivate weak women weighed down with sins, led on by various impulses, 7 always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth (2 Timothy 3:1-7).
So what can we say about these things? We need to keep God's word in our hearts and on our tongues at all times. We need to stay repentant and check ourselves for pride. We need to stay close to the heart of God through His Son, Jesus Christ. We need to embrace our weakness and overome this world through the blood of Jesus, loving the Word of God, and being willing to die for Christ, if that is His will! My prayer for your today:
Ok so I have a lot on my plate right now. I love writing, research, and studying the Bible, but I struggle with staying focused. First, I have been trying to write book 2 of my Revelation series for several months now. In the process, I got "distracted" and wrote my latest book: You-the Prayer Warrior (which really blessed ME more than anything) so yesterday I finally began working on book 2 again. I have to admit, every time I finish writing about a specific, historical church from Revelation, I feel overwhelming fulfilled and blessed. Yet, I seem to wander off in other directions very easily. So now the question becomes, maybe my study on Revelation is supposed to be my life's work rather than something I rush to get done? Not sure, but that's a thought, or, I need to recognize that the distraction may be from the enemy of my soul?? Either way, I covet your prayers :)
Next, I have been thinking a lot about hearing God's voice, and realized that I wanted a strong Biblical foundation for hearing the voice of God so on Wednesday I began writing a Bible study on this subject. I am really excited about diving into God's word and understanding more about how, when, where, why, and what He speaks. Pray for me because this is a topic near and dear to my heart and so many others. This subject began twirling through my thoughts as I studied the 7 churches of Revelation. Why? Well, if you notice in each letter, the very end includes a special warning that the church needed to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit:
"He who has an ear let him hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches (Rev. 2:7, 11, 17; 29; 3:6, 13, 22)"
Last, after writing my recent book, I found that I didn't want to stop writing prayers because it touched me so much. So now I have included this as part of my daily devotions. If you pick up a copy of my book (You-the Prayer Warrior), you will find that I model this practice so that you will be able to do it too. It really does enhance my prayer life. Here is my latest prayer:
My name is Beth Frisby, and I have a passion for God's Word. As an educator, my heart is to teach the Bible especially the book with a blessing- Revelation.
