Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of the prophecy, and heed the things which are written in it; for the time is near (Rev. 1:3).
Happiness is your right now reward as you read, hear, and attend to His Revelation. The blessing applies to three groups of people: those who read these words, those who hear these words, and those who heed these words. There are three active responses to Revelation required for this blessing to be poured out over your life. How should you respond? Place this book of prophecy in your hands, open it up, read, hear and guard these words.
The prophet Micah began his prophecy with the words: Hear now what the Lord is saying (Micah 6:8).
Beloved open the pages of Revelation, and you will begin to hear the voice of Jesus. His breath is all over this book. Your blessing is found in drawing near to Jesus. As you read the prophecy of Revelation you will catch a glorious picture of Jesus as Messiah King, the Faithful Witness, the Alpha and the Omega, the Firstborn from the dead, the High Priest of a better covenant, and the Almighty! You can’t see Jesus without hearing His voice. His last recorded words are in this book, but there’s so much more to hearing. As you fix your eyes on Jesus, your spiritual ears will be opened to hear the voice of your beloved. He who has an ear let him hear- these are the words Jesus repeats to His churches, and these are the same words He speaks to you and me. As Jesus walked amongst His churches, He spoke! One word from Jesus is enough for His words are powerful:
But the centurion said, “Lord, I am not worthy for You to come under my roof, but just say the word, and my servant will be healed (Matthew 8:8). And Jesus said to the centurion, “Go; it shall be done for you as you have believed.” And the servant was healed that very moment (Matthew 8:13).
The voice of our beloved calls through the words of His Revelation. It is our job to respond to His voice. Our response is to put a guard over His word. That is the meaning of “heeding.” We are like soldiers guarding something precious and extremely valuable. Our Lord’s words are priceless, yet so many of us overlook His last words because of fear. We have nothing to fear beloved. We aren’t left to do this alone for we have the help of the Holy Spirit. Don’t neglect the reading, hearing, and guarding of the words of Jesus. For if you set your heart to understand, you will receive understanding:
The moment you began praying, a command was given. And now I am here to tell you what it was, for you are very precious to God. Listen carefully so that you can understand the meaning of your vision (Daniel 9:23).
Father in the pages of Christ’s last recorded words I find happiness. In His Revelation there is a beautiful picture of the exalted Messiah. Help me Holy Spirit to read, hear, and attend to the words of this prophecy. Give me understanding of this prophecy. Thank you Father that I don’t have to do this alone, but you sent the Holy Spirit who will lead me into all understanding.
